Cleveland State Women’s Golf 10th after Round One at IUPUI Jaguar Invitational

Indianapolis, IN-The Cleveland State women's golf team sits in 10th place after the opening round of the IUPUI Jaguar Invitational. The Vikings carded a team total of 28-over par 316 in the first round. Ball State leads the field at 8-over through the first 18 holes.

All seven active players on the Vikings roster are competing this weekend. Brynna Mardis, the defending individual champion of the event, carried momentum from last year's event to shooting the lowest total of the Cleveland State starting lineup. Mardis posted a 4-over 76 which included three birdies to sit in a tie for 17th

Mandie Ruminski and Kaitlin Kormuth each posted rounds of 5-over 77 and are in a group of players tied for 24th. Ruminski, making her first appearance back since the opening event of the spring schedule, carded nine-hole scores of 38-39. Kormuth carded identical scores on her two nines which included one birdie. 

Lola Barnett posted an 86 and Olivia Swain posted an 88 to round out the Viking lineup. Barnett is tied for 72nd and Swain is 76th. Abby Blackburn posted a strong round playing as an individual, tying Mardis for the low round of the day with a 76. Blackburn carded three birdies and her total was one shy of a career best. She is also tied for 17th. Kaylin Kline, also playing as an individual, posted an 82 and sits in a tie for 56th.

The second and final round of the tournament is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Fans can follow live results on Golfstat throughout the tournament.
