Kormuth Wins Individual Title, Cleveland State Women’s Golf Sixth at NKU Julie Invitational

Batavia, OH-Kaitlin Kormuth captured her first individual tournament victory as she won the NKU Julie Invitational by three shots over Caylie Kotlowski of Green Bay. This is the second year in a row that a freshman has won a tournament for the Vikings and the fourth tournament victory in the last two seasons combined.

Kormuth fired an even par 72 in the final round to finish at 1-over for the championship. She played steady golf throughout the round finishing with two birdies, two bogeys and 14 pars. The 72 ties her lowest round of the season.

Olivia Swain improved heavily on the second day, carding a 2-over 74. Swain bettered her day one score by nine shots and posted 13-over par for the tournament to finish in a tie for 26th place.

Lola Barnett also posted a strong finish. Barnett posted a 7-over 79 in the second round to finish at 10-over for the championship. She finished in a tie for 17th overall which is her second consecutive top-20 finish after recording a T-9 finish in last week's Nevel Meade Collegiate. 

Abby Blackburn posted an 80 and Brynna Mardis finished with an 83 to round out the Viking lineup. Blackburn finished in a tie for 56th place and Mardis finished in a tie for 70th.

Cleveland State returns to action next week on Monday as the Vikings travel to the EKU Colonel Classic scheduled for April 1-2.
