Two Vikings in Top Five, Cleveland State Women’s Golf Seventh after Day One of Julie Invitational

Batavia, OH-Two members of the Cleveland State women's golf team sit in the top five in the individual standings as the Vikings posted a strong start to the NKU Julie Invitational. Cleveland State posted an overall score of 29-over par 317 on the first day to sit in seventh place in the team standings.

Kaitlin Kormuth is tied for first after the opening round after firing a 1-over par 73. Kormuth was steady throughout her opening round posting three birdies, including two on the back nine where she posted a 1-under 35. Kormuth finished her round with birdies on two of her final four holes to move into a tie for the lead. She is currently tied with Green Bay's Caylie Kotlowski and the two are one shot clear of Northern Kentucky's Emanuell Hewson who finished at 2-over 74. 

Lola Barnett is close behind as she posted a 3-over 75 and is tied for fourth in the individual race. Barnett carded three birdies on the front side in posting a 1-over 37 and was steady on the back nine with seven pars and two bogeys for a 2-over 38. She sits in a group of eight players currently two shots back of the lead headed into tomorrow's final round.

Rounding out the Cleveland State lineup, Olivia Swain posted an 83, Abby Blacburn carded an 86 and Brynna Mardis finished with an 89 in the opening round.

The Vikings will start the second round with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow. Live scoring will be available on GolfGenius throughout the day.
