DAYTON, Ohio -- Rayna Oosterhuis fired an opening-round 74 leading Cleveland State to a third-place finish after the opening round of the Dayton Flyers Invitational on Monday on the NCR Country Club North Course.
Competing in her second event of the fall season, Oosterhuis used birdies on the first, seventh and 12th holes to shoot a season-best round of 74. She is currently tied for seventh overall in the medalist standings and trails Ellie Cronin of Dayton by four strokes.
Led by Oosterhuis, Cleveland State is currently tied for third place in the team standings with a total of 305. Butler leads the field with a team score of 300, Illinois State is second with a 301 and Cleveland State and Findlay are tied for third with a 305.
Madison Butler was the Vikings second finisher on the day after shooting a 75 over her opening round. Butler used a birdie on each nine to finish with a five-over par 75 and is tied for 11th overall.
Ashley Knight is tied for 17th overall after shooting a 77 to begin the tournament, while Grace Zimmerman carded a 79 and Lexi Knight posted an 80.
The tournament will conclude on Tuesday (Oct. 15) with 18 holes over the NCR Country Club beginning at 10:30 a.m.
