Vikings Head to Youngstown State in Final Tune-Up Prior to Horizon League Championship

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland State women's golf team will participate in the one-day Youngstown State Spring Invitational on Saturday (April 13) at the Youngstown Country Club.

Cleveland State will be joined in the field by Bowling Green State, Niagara and Youngstown State.

The Vikings most recently competed at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational hosted by Bowling Green State. The Vikings, who finished seventh in the field, were led by Kaylee Neumeister who finished tied for sixth in the standings.

Neumeister opened with a 71 and was tied for first before posting a second-round 78 and placing sixth in the field. Ashley Knight shot rounds of 77-79 and finished tied for 25th, while Grace Zimmerman had rounds of 76-82 and was tied for 29th overall.

Through nine events on the season, Madison Butler leads the Vikings with a 77.0 stroke average. She has three top-five finishes on the year and six top-20 finishes.

Neumeister is right behind Butler with a 77.1 average and has three top-five finishes overall and four top-20 placements.

Knight is third on the Vikings with a 78.6 scoring average and has one top-10 finish in 2018-19.

Grace Zimmerman and Meg Rossouw are fourth and fifth on the Vikings in scoring average. Zimmerman is averaging 81.5 on the season, while Rossouw has an 81.6 scoring average.

This will mark the Vikings final tune-up of the season prior to the Horizon League Championship, which will be held on April 21-23 at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
