DAY ONE RECAP

RICHMOND, Va. -- Madison Butler carded rounds of 75-77 to lead Cleveland State on day one of the Colonel Classic on Friday at the University Club at Arlington.

Butler opened the tournament with a three-over par 75 over the par-72, 5,885-yard layout at the University Club at Arlington and then posted a 77 over her final 18 holes of the day. She currently sits just a stroke outside of the top 20 on the leaderboard.

Kaylee Neumeister continued her solid play as she is tied for 41st overall after shooting rounds of 79-77.

Ashley Knight and Meg Rossouw rounded out the Cleveland State scorers on day one of the tournament. Knight shot rounds of 82-77 and is tied for 54th overall, while Rossouw had rounds of 80-80 and is tied for 59th in the standings.

Grace Zimmerman carded an 82 and an 86 and is tied for 76th place overall.

Josephine Chang of Kentucky leads the medalist field after recording a 73-67 and is four-under par. Eastern Kentucky posted rounds of 298-286 and leads the team title chase, while Northern Illinois is second after shooting 287-301.

The tournament will conclude on Saturday (March 30) with 18 holes over the University Club at Arlington and teams will tee off at 8:30 a.m.
