CLEVELAND -- Coming off of its best performance of the spring season, the Cleveland State women's golf team will travel to Kentucky to participate in the Colonel Classic beginning on Friday (March 29) at the University Club at Arlington.

Cleveland State finished sixth at the Morehead State Citrus Challenge on March 17-19, which included a closing round of 307 which was the Vikings top round since shooting a 303 at the MAC Fall Preview.

Kaylee Neumeister led the Vikings with a fourth-place finish in the medalist standings after shooting rounds of 74-75-72 and was the Vikings top finisher for the first time during the 2018-19 season.

Madison Butler, who has been Cleveland State's top finisher in five of the seven events on the season, leads the Vikings with a 76.3 stroke average. She posted her sixth top-20 finish of the year at the Morehead State Citrus Challenge with a 13th-place finish.

Neumeister dropped her scoring average to 77.1, which ranks second on the team. She has two top-five finishes on the year and has two par, or better, rounds on the season.

Ashley Knight ranks third on the team with a 78.9 stroke average and she was tied for 28th at the Morehead State Citrus Challenge.

Amanda Baker has one top-20 finish on the year and is fourth on the team with a 79.7 scoring average.

Grace Zimmerman has an 81.5 average, while Meg Rossouw is averaging 81.7 strokes per round. Rossouw is coming off her top performance of the season where she finished tied for 28th at the Citrus Challenge, which included a season-best round of 76.

Rayna Oosterhuis rounds out the Vikings with an 83.0 scoring average.

Cleveland State is one of 13 teams competing in the Colonel Classic and the field includes Eastern Kentucky, Akron, Austin Peay, Ball State, Belmont, Cumberland, Dayton, IUPUI, Northern Illinois, Oakland, Ohio and Tennessee Tech. The teams will tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday at the par-72, 5,885-yard layout at the University Club at Arlington.
