Vikings Head to Florida for Citrus Challenge

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland State women's golf team will participate in its second tournament of the spring season beginning on Sunday (March 17) at the Morehead State Citrus Challenge at the Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.

The tournament will be played over three days beginning on Sunday at the par-72, 5,929-yard layout at Red Tail.

Cleveland State opened the 2019 spring season with a seventh-place finish at the Islander Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas. Madison Butler led the Vikings as she recorded a top-20 finish by placing 18th in the field with a 54-hole score of 236.

Rayna Oosterhuis and Grace Zimmerman tied for 30th overall with a score of 246.

Butler leads the Vikings through six events in the 2018-19 season with a 76.3 scoring average. She has placed in the top 20 in five of the six tournaments in which she has competed and finished in the top five three times.

Ashley Knight, who recorded a hole-in-one at the Islander Classic, ranks second on the team with a 79.1 scoring average. Amanda Baker is right behind Knight with a 79.7 average.

The teams are slated to play 18 holes each day culminating on Tuesday (March 19).
