Vikings Tabbed Fourth in Horizon League Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State has been selected to finish fourth in the Horizon League Women's Golf Preseason Poll as voted upon by the league head coaches and announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Cleveland State, which finished third at the 2018 Horizon League Championship, received 43 points to place fourth in the poll. Youngstown State received six first-place votes and was first in the poll followed by Oakland who received two first-place votes and 56 points.

The 2019 Horizon League women's golf championship will take place April 21-23 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hill, Fla.

The Vikings will be led by the duo of Madison Butler and Kaylee Neumeister who each earned Second Team All-Horizon League honors last season. Butler topped the team with a 78.7 stroke average and placed sixth at the Horizon League Championship, while Neumeister had a 78.8 average and finished 11th at the conference championship.

Amanda Baker returns for her sophomore season after posting an 80.2 average last year, while Ashley Knight had an 80.8 average last season.

Rayna Oosterhuis returns for her senior season after a redshirt year in 2017-18. She was the Horizon League runner-up in 2016-17 and helped lead the Vikings to the conference title.

Junior Brooke Ciccone also returns for the Vikings, while Meg Rossouw and Grace Zimmerman enter their first year at CSU.

Cleveland State will open the spring season at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Classic on Feb. 25-26.
