Women's Golf Begins Spring Season in Orlando

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's golf team will begin the spring season at the Motor City Cup at Orange County National in Orlando on Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 5-6).The Vikings will be joined in the event by Detroit Mercy and Oakland.

The Vikings are the defending Horizon League champions, capturing the first-ever League title in program history last spring.

CSU competed in four events during the fall campaign, posting a 311.3 scoring average.

Sophomore Kaylee Neumeister - a first team All-Horizon League selection last year - led the team with a 76.6 scoring average, which included the lowest round by a CSU player with a 70 at Ball State. Freshman Madison Butler posted a 78.4 average in the fall and won the season opening Roseann Schwartz Invitational in September.

Senior Sophie Kelner had a 78.5 average and was the teams top finisher at the Ball State Invitational, while freshmen Amanda Baker (79.6) and Ashley Knight (80.4), senior Emily Turski (81.3) and sophomore Brooke Ciccone (88.0) rounded out CSU's lineup.

CSU shot a school record low round of 292 in the first round of the Ball State Invitational in September.

The Vikings resume the spring schedule at the Grand Canyon Invitational on Feb. 24-25 in Phoenix.
