Vikings Vault Into First Place at Horizon League Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Moving day in a golf tournament is normally reserved for Saturday. For the Cleveland State women's golf team, Monday was moving day.

The Vikings shot 302 in the second round of the Horizon League Championship and turned a 15 shot deficit into a one shot lead heading into Tuesday's final round at the Las Colinas Course at Mission Inn Resort.

The 302 was the lowest round of the tournament and the third lowest round in school history as the Vikings moved up from fourth place to take the lead after two rounds with a 36-hole total of 621.

The Vikings will enter the final round with a one shot advantage over Northern Kentucky (622) and a four shot lead over Youngstown State (625). CSU, NKU and YSU will make up the final pairings.

Oakland is in fourth place at 628 and is followed by Detroit Mercy (642), Valparaiso (643), UIC (656) and Green Bay (664).

Sophomore Rayna Oosterhuis birdied her first hole today en route to her second straight round of 74 and is tied for second place with a 148 total.

She is four shots behind YSU's Katlyn Shutt who has shot 73-71 (144).

Freshman Kaylee Neumeister birdied four of her final seven holes, including three of her last five to shoot 77 and is tied for fifth place overall. She has a 36-hole total of 153 (76-77).

Freshman Ellie Cronin carded a 76 today and is tied for 14th place (83-76 – 159), while junior Emily Turski fired a 75 – the third lowest round of the day – and is tied for 28th place at 166 (91-75).

Junior Sophie Kelner is tied for 30th at 168 (86-82).

The final round of the League championship will be played on Tuesday with the first tee times at 7:30 am. CSU will tee off between 9:10 am and 9:50 am.
