Neumeister & Kelner Named to All-Horizon League Teams

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State freshman Kaylee Neumeister (Cortland, Ohio) and junior Sophie Kelner (Carmel, Ind.) were both named to the All-Horizon League teams that were announced on Saturday night at the banquet on the eve of the League Championship that begins on Sunday.

Neumeister was named to the all-league first team, while Kelner was voted to the second team. Neumeister becomes the sixth player in League history to earn first team honors and is the first CSU freshman to be voted to the first team since Kristen Obush in 2003.

Neumeister led the team and ranked third in the Horizon League with a 77.7 scoring average for the second lowest scoring average by a freshman in the League. She has posted four top-five finishes this year and has CSU's low round of the season with a 70. Neumeister's average of 77.7 is currently the third lowest for a season in school history, topped only by Allyson Hackman who averaged 77.4 in 2014-15 and 2015-16.

Kelner is making her first appearance on the all-league team and is second on the team and eighth in the League with a 78.8 average, while recording five top-10 finishes.

The Horizon League Championship will run from Sunday through Tuesday (April 23-25) at Mission Inn Resort in Florida. The winner of the Horizon League Championship will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals which will run from May 8-10 in Athens, Ga., Columbus, Ohio, Lubbock, Texas and Albuquerque, N.M.
