Miller, Kelner & Bennie Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State women's golfers Colleen Miller, Sophie Kelner and Hannah Bennie were named to the Women's Golf Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team that was announced on Monday evening.

It is the second straight year that Miller has earned the honor.

Miller graduated in May with a degree in operations supply chain management and carried a 3.91 cumulative GPA throughout her career. Over the course of the 2014-15 season, Miller posted an 83.9 scoring average and notched three top-10 finishes for the Vikings.

Earlier this year, Miller earned the Award for Excellence in Operations and Supply Chain Management at the 47th Annual Rotary Awards for Cleveland State University Business Students.

Kelner, a freshman, carried a 3.77 GPA during her first year at CSU as a communications major. She ranked second on the team with an 81.0 scoring average and posted six top-20 finishes. Kelner tied for first place at the Benbow Invitational in March before falling on the first playoff hole to teammate Allyson Hackman.

In October, Kelner carded a school-record 68 at the Butler Invitational.

Bennie, who is also a freshman, has a 3.94 grade point average as a health science major. She posted an 84.8 scoring average this year, including a low round of 78.

 

The selection criteria for the WGCA All-American Scholar Team is a 3.50 GPA and participation in 50 percent of the team's tournaments. There were 16 players from the Horizon League who earned the honor.
