Vikings Finish Third at Horizon League Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Cleveland State shot a final round 322, its lowest of the Horizon League Championship, and moved up three spots to finish in third place at the par-72, 6,018-yard Mission Inn Resort.

CSU, which shot 324 and 336 in the first two rounds, moved ahead of three teams with today's round, finishing with a 54 hole total of 982.

Youngstown State claimed the team title with a 926 total, 11 shots ahead of runner-up Oakland. CSU was third and was followed by Green Bay and UIC (983) who tied for fourth, while Valparaiso was fifth at 987 and Detroit seventh at 1,002.

Allyson Hackman led the Vikings over the three-day tournament, tying for sixth place to earn a spot on the all-tournament team for the third straight year. After rounds of 74 and 82 to open the tournament, Hackman finished with a 78 today for a 54-hole total of 234.

Sophie Kelner posted CSU's low round of the day with a 76 and wound up in 18th place. Kelner, who shot 84 and 87 in the first two rounds, opened today's final round with a birdie and made three birdies on the front nine en route to a one-under-par 34 on the outward nine.

Colleen Miller tied for 19th place overall with rounds of 82-83-83 (248), while Madison Lomas and Hannah Bennie tied for 29th place at 258. Lomas followed a pair of 84's with a 90 today, while Bennie shot 85 today after rounds of 84-89.
