CSU In Fifth Place After First Round of League Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Cleveland State shot an opening round 324 and is in fifth place after the first round of the Horizon League Championship that opened on Friday at the par-73, 5,817-yard Mission Inn Resort Las Colinas Course.

Oakland holds the first round lead at 310 and is followed by Youngstown State (312), Detroit (317), Valparaiso (318), CSU (324), UIC (326) and Green Bay (328).

The Vikings have two players in the top-10 with Shelly Ford tied for fourth place and Allyson Hackman tied for sixth place.

Ford played the front nine in one-under-par 34 and had 14 pars and one birdie on her card through the first 15 holes. She finished with a three-over-par 76 and is just three shots off the overall lead.

Hackman, who was named to the all-league first team last night, used a birdie on the 18th hole to card a 78.

Colleen Miller is tied for 18th after an 81.

The second round of the league championship will tee off a 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
