Vikings Fall to Northern Illinois at MAC Match Play

Northern Illinois 3.5, Cleveland State 1.5

SARASOTA, Fla. - The Cleveland State women's golf team dropped a 3.5-1.5 match to Northern Illinois in the fifth place match at the MAC Match Play Tournament on Tuesday at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.

It was the spring season opener for CSU, which lost to Toledo and defeated Akron on the first day of the tournament yesterday.

The Vikings received their lone point today from senior Shelly Ford who earned a 2&1 victory at the No. 2 position. With the match all square through 15 holes, Ford won the 16th and 17th holes to claim the win.

Senior Micaela Cronin earned a half point today, using a birdie on the final hole to halve the match.

The Vikings are now out of action until March 10-11 when CSU competes at the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
