Vikings Open Spring Season at MAC Match Play

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's golf team will open the 2014 spring season when the Vikings compete in the MAC Match Play on Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 3-4) in Sarasota, Fla.

The eight team field will all play three matches over the two days at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club King's Dunes Course. It is a par-72, 5,935-yard track.

CSU will be the No. 8 seed in the field and face top-seeded Toledo in an opening round match that begins at 8:00 a.m. on Monday.

The winner of the CSU/UT match will square off with the winner of the match between third-seeded Akron and sixth-seeded Western Michigan in the second round with the losers of the first round match playing against each other in the consolation round.

The second round match is slated for 12:00 p.m. on Monday with the third and final match of the tournament scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Bowling Green, the host school for the event, is the second seed and will face No. 7 seed Northern Illinois in an opening round match with fourth-seeded Ohio and fifth-seeded Bradley the final first round match.

The winners and losers of those matches will square off in the second round.

There will be six individual matches in each round with Allyson Hackman, Shelly Ford, Micaela Cronin, Madeline Kaminski, Colleen Miller and Steff Camarata forming CSU's lineup.

Hackman led the Vikings in the fall with a 79.5 scoring average, including three top-20 finishes in five events. Ford was second on the squad in the fall with an 81.4 scoring average, while Cronin posted an 83.2 scoring average, finishing in the top-20 in all five events, including a runner-up finish at the Chicago State Invitational with a 36-hole total of 146 (74-72).

The Vikings will be back in action on March 10-11 when CSU competes in the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
