CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's golf team begins its spring season when the Vikings compete in the Don Benbow Invitational on Monday and Tuesday (March 11-12).

The event, hosted by Butler, will take place in Jacksonville, Fla.

"We are excited to get out on the course and get the spring season started," head coach Steve Weir said. "The girls have been working extremely hard and are ready to build upon a successful fall campaign. We have a lot of experience on this team and have a number of players who are capable of stepping up on any given day."

The Vikings played five tournaments in the fall, including a runner-up finish at the CSU Invitational. The Vikings were also fourth of 15 teams at the Chicago State Invitational.

Senior Ariel Sparrow posted a 79.0 scoring average in the fall, including a 73 in the first round of the CSU Invitational, tied for the second lowest round in school history en route to runner-up honors at the event. Sparrow had three top-20 finishes in the fall.

Junior Madeline Kaminski averaged 80.0 in the fall, firing a 75 in the final round of the CSU Invitational, just one shot off her career-low. Freshman Allyson Hackman was right behind Kaminski, averaging 80.8 in the fall with four rounds in the 70's.

As a team, the Vikings averaged 320.6 in the fall, which puts CSU on pace to blow away the single-season scoring record which is currently 329.5 set last season.
