CSU Finishes Fourth at Chicago State Cougar Classic

CHICAGO, Ill. - Shelly Ford shot a career-low 76 to help Cleveland State to a final round 321 and a fourth place finish at the Chicago State Cougar Classic on Tuesday.

The 36-hole event was played at the par-72, 5,904-yard Harborside International Golf Center.

The Vikings opened the tournament with a 316 on Monday, tied for the third lowest round in program history, to finish at 637.

Ford followed yesterday's 80 with her 76 today and wound up placing ninth with a 36-hole total of 156. Ariel Sparrow tied for 14th place at 158 (78-80), while Micaela Cronin finished 21st with rounds of 78-81 (159).

Indiana State won the event with a total of 631, while Valparaiso and IUPUI tied for second place at 635. CSU was just two shots back, while Northern Illinois rounded out the top-five at 638. Loyola was sixth and 640 and was followed by Chicago State (644), Texas Pan-American (649), Eastern Illinois (656), North Dakota (660), SIU Edwardsville (665), Lewis (671), IPFW (673), UIC (676) and Green Bay (684).

The Vikings will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 24-25) when CSU hosts its own invitational at Pine Hills G.C.
