NASHPORT, Ohio - Playing in its final event of the fall season, the Cleveland State women's golf team opened the MAC Preview with a 325 and is in eighth place out of 15 teams after the first round on Monday.

The 36-hole event is being played at the par-72, 6,173-yard Longaberger G.C.

"This is a great field and an opportunity for us to get in some rounds at a very tough golf course and see where we are at as a team," head coach Steve Weir said. "I was very pleased with the way we battled today, especially with some of the elements we endured."

Freshman Allyson Hackman had the low round of the day for CSU, carding an 80 and is tied for 19th place. Hackman's round included a 36 on the back nine. Madeline Kaminski and Lisa Barber both shot 81 and are tied for 27th, while Ariel Sparrow shot an 83 and is tied for 40th.

The Vikings are just four shots out of fifth place, which is shared by Toledo, Butler and Eastern Michigan who all shot 321.

Akron leads the event after a 314, one shot ahead of Bowling Green and Ball State. Bucknell is in fourth place at 320.

CSU is one shot ahead of ninth place Western Michigan (326), who is followed by Ohio and Northern Illinois (329), Chicago State (332), Dayton (336), Detroit (337) and Youngstown State (347).

Detroit and Youngstown State are the only other two Horizon League schools in this week's field.

The final round of the MAC Preview will start at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 16) and will be the final fall round for the Vikings.
