CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State senior Ariel Sparrow (Strongsville, Ohio) was named to the All-Horizon League first team at the end-of-the-year banquet that was held on Thursday night in Florida leading up to this weekend's Horizon League Championship.

This is Sparrow's second selection to the All-League first team, also earning the honor as a sophomore in 2010-11. In addition, she was the Horizon League Newcomer of the Year in 2009-10.

Sparrow has paced the Vikings from the top of the lineup all season, posting a 79.2 scoring average, the second lowest single season average in program history (Katie Broere, 78.5 in 2008-09).

Sparrow has CSU's low round of the season, a 73 in the first round of the CSU Invitational that helped her claim runner-up honors at the tournament. The 73 was also tied for the second lowest round in program history.

At last weekend's Angola Invitational, Sparrow carded a 74 to claim medalist honors by one shot, becoming just the second player in program history to win an event.

She has five top-20 finishes this season.

Her play this year has helped the Vikings post a team scoring average of 320.7, the best in school history by nine shots.

Sparrow's career scoring average of 81.2 is tops in CSU history.

The Vikings begin play in the Horizon League Championship on Friday (April 26) in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., at Mission Inn.
