Chenara Wilson

Chenara Wilson

Chenara Wilson will begin her first season on the sidelines with the Cleveland State women's basketball team during the 2023-24 campaign, serving as the Special Assistant to the Head Coach.

Wilson comes to Cleveland State with 16 years of collegiate coaching experience, most recently at Slippery Rock University where she spent eight seasons.

During her time at Slippery Rock, Wilson spent seven seasons as an assistant coach and one season as the acting head coach – in which she helped the program post its first winning campaign in over 20 years.

Prior to her time at SRU, Wilson was the head coach at Mercyhurst Northeast for three years, earning District Coach of the Year honors and leading the team to the National Tournament for just the second time in program history.

In addition, Wilson spent five years at Cuyahoga Community College, where she was an assistant coach.

Wilson, who is a 2007 graduate of Cleveland State University, was a four-year letterwinner on the women’s basketball team, where she helped turn the program around into an eventual NCAA Tournament team.
