Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Earns WBCA Academic Honorable Mention

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Cleveland State women's basketball team has been recognized for its work in the classroom last season, earning special mention in the 2022-23 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top-25 Team Honor Roll. The Vikings posted a 3.459 combined GPA during the 2022-23 academic year.

"It's great to see this team be recognized for all of their hard work that they put in off the court," head coach Chris Kielsmeier said. "In our program we strive to do everything at an elite level – including what we do in the classroom – and I'm so proud of the student-athletes in our program for their effort and commitment to being champions in the classroom, in the community and in competition."

Cleveland State is one of 115 Division I teams to post a 3.00+ GPA or better, and one of six Horizon League teams to be recognized. For the 2022-23 academic year, the Vikings combined for 14 Dean's List honors and had 10 student-athletes invited to the CSU Athletics Academic Honors Luncheon for having a 3.25 cumulative GPA or better.

The WBCA Academic Top-25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2022-23 season is the 28th in which the WBCA has compiled an honor roll list.
