INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After capturing the 2023 Horizon League Tournament title earlier this week, the Cleveland State women's basketball trio of Destiny Leo, Brittni Moore and Gabriella Smith were named to the All-Tournament Team. 

This trio led the second-seeded Vikings to a 65-52 quarterfinal victory over No. 7 Milwaukee and a 63-60 overtime win against No. 5 Northern Kentucky, before capturing the 2023 #HLWBB Tournament title with a 73-61 victory over top-seeded Green Bay. The championship marks the third in program history, and first since 2010. 

Leo, who was also named the Tournament MVP, averaged a team-best 15.7 points per game through tournament play, including a 25-point performance against Northern Kentucky in the semifinals. Leo tallied 13 points against Green Bay in the championship game, and has now tallied double-digit points 30 times this year, including a league-best 13 20-point games. 

Moore nearly averaged a double-double through tournament play, averaging 14.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, notching back-to-back double-doubles against Northern Kentucky (12 pts, 10 rbs) and Green Bay (14 pts, 10 rbs). With her 12 points against the Norse in the semifinals, Moore eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career, becoming the second active Viking to reach the milestone. 

Smith averaged 15.3 points per game on a .571 field goal percentage through the three games, while also notching a team-best nine steals. In addition to her team-best field goal percentage, Smith also shot 50-percent from three-point range (7-for-14) and was perfect at the free throw line (7-for-7) in tournament play. Smith led the Vikings with 19 points against Green Bay in the championship game, going 5-for-7 from behind-the-arc along with three steals, two rebounds and one assist.
