INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced the 2022-23 Women's Basketball All-Academic Team Thursday, with Cleveland State junior Destiny Leo being recognized. Leo becomes just the second Viking in program history to earn a spot on the #HLWBB All-Academic Team.
Leo, who has been an annual Cleveland State University Dean's List honoree and Horizon League Academic Honor Roll member, is currently pursuing a degree in sports management.
On the court, Leo has led the Vikings to a record-setting 26-3 record so far this year, including a program-best 16-2 mark in Horizon League play, putting Cleveland State at the top of the #HLWBB standings.
Leo is leading the Vikings and the Horizon League averaging 18.3 points per game, and has tallied a league-best 12 20-point games – including four 30-point performances. Earlier this year, Leo eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career, and currently ranks 12th on the CSU Scoring List with 1,335 total points.
Nationally, Leo ranks fifth among Division I players with a .913 free throw percentage (137-for-150) on the year, while also ranking in the top-15 for free throws made. Leo currently sits at the top of the CSU Career Record Book with a .903 clip from the free throw line throughout her time as a Viking.
