Ngwafang Named #HLWBB Player Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading Cleveland State to a 2-0 Horizon League weekend, senior Amele Ngwafang has been named the #HLWBB Player of the Week. This marks the second weekly accolade for Ngwafang this season, while it is the league-leading sixth weekly honor for the Vikings.

Last time out, Ngwafang and the Vikings picked up a pair of wins against RMU (61-43) and Youngstown State (81-48), improving to 21-3 overall this season and 12-2 in Horizon League play. With the RMU win, the Vikings notched their third 20-win campaign over the last four seasons, while the YSU win kept Cleveland State in a tie for first place in the #HLWBB standings.

In the two games last week, Ngwafang averaged a double-double with 15.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 50-percent from the floor (11-for-22).

Ngwafang opened the week with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win over RMU, while she followed that up with 21 points and 15 rebounds – including seven offensive boards – in the win against Youngstown State.

The double-doubles marked the seventh and eighth of the season for Ngwafang, as she has now recorded a double-double in three straight games. Entering the week, Ngwafang is one of four Horizon League players with eight or more double-doubles on the year.

Through 24 games played, Ngwafang ranks fifth among league players averaging 7.5 rebounds per game, while she ranks third with 72 total offensive boards. In addition, Ngwafang ranks 22nd in scoring, averaging 10.0 points per game.
