Leo Notches 1,000th Career Point As Vikings Earn 80-55 Victory Over Campbell

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Cleveland State women's basketball team closed out its trip to Las Vegas on Tuesday, picking up an 80-55 victory over Campbell to finish the Holiday Hoops Classic with a 2-0 record. With the win, the Vikings extended their win streak to 11 straight games, tying the program record for the longest win streak in history.

GAME STATS
· Four Vikings finished with double-figures on the game, including 19 from Deja Williams. Brittni Moore finished with 15 points, while Destiny Leo added 12 and Carmen Villalobos chipped in 11 points.
· Brittni Moore and Amele Ngwafang each grabbed eight rebounds on the game, while Sara Guerreiro added five boards.
· The Vikings finished with 12 assists, including three from Carmen Villalobos.
· Cleveland State recorded 14 steals against Campbell, including four from Sara Guerreiro and three from Brittni Moore and Deja Williams.
· The Vikings forced Campbell into 23 turnovers, turning these miscues into 36 points.

GAME NOTES
· Destiny Leo became the 32nd Viking to record 1,000 career points after posting 11 against Campbell.
· Deja Williams tallied a career-high with her 19 points on the night.
· With 11 points against Campbell, Carmen Villalobos recorded a career-high.
· The Vikings are now 6-0 during the month of December.
· Tuesday's game marked the first meeting between Cleveland State and Campbell in program history.
· With the win, the Vikings extended their current win streak to 11 straight games – tying the program record.

THE GAME
For the second straight game the Vikings were able to take control right from the start, as they jumped out to a 9-3 lead midway through the first quarter. During this stretch, Destiny Leo became the 32nd Viking to reach 1,000 career points, as a three-pointer at the 6:33 mark put her right at the mark.

Following Leo's record-setting basket, she was able to draw a charge on the ensuing Campbell possession, with the turnover leading to a Brittni Moore layup that gave Cleveland State it's 9-3 advantage.

Although the Camels were able to stop the scoring run, Cleveland State responded with back-to-back baskets from Deja Williams, gaining a 10-point lead at the 15-5 mark two minutes later. The Vikings would go on to hold a 21-8 edge after the first quarter of play.

The Vikings carried their momentum into the second quarter, as a 10-0 run to start the frame put the Vikings up 31-8 less than three minutes into the quarter. During this stretch, the Vikings got six points off a pair of Carmen Villalobos three-pointers, while yet another Villalobos three-pointer at the 5:11 mark put the score at 36-10 Vikings.

Cleveland State was then able to control play throughout the rest of the frame, taking a 45-14 edge into the halftime break.

After the Vikings were able to withstand a 25-13 run from Campbell during the third quarter, Cleveland State responded with seven straight points to open the fourth frame, regaining a 65-39 lead with just over eight minutes left in the contest.

Cleveland State was able to maintain its sizeable lead over the next three minutes then, before a trio of Leo free throws put the Vikings up by 31 points at the 74-43 mark.

The Vikings then closed out the game with the momentum, coming away with the 80-55 victory.
