Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Earns 86-55 Victory At Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Cleveland State women's basketball team extended its win streak to eight straight games Thursday, picking up an 86-55 victory at Central Michigan. The Vikings are now 8-1 on the season.

GAME STATS
· Brittni Moore led the Viking offense with 26 points, while Amele Ngwafang and Destiny Leo both added 16 points.
· Amele Ngwafang grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds, while Brittni Moore and Aminata Ly both recorded seven boards.
· As a team, the Vikings recorded 10 steals on the day, including three from Barbara Zieniewska and two from Brittni Moore.
· Cleveland State shot 47-percent from the field on the game, including a .714 clip during the third quarter (10-for-14).
· 48 of Cleveland State's 86 points came in the paint, while 23 points came off of 19 Central Michigan turnovers.

GAME NOTES
· Brittni Moore notched a career-high as a Viking with 26 points against Central Michigan.
· Amele Ngwafang posted her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds, becoming the first Viking to record multiple double-doubles on the year.
· Cleveland State has now recorded a .450 clip from the field or better in three straight games.
· Thursday's game marked the first of six straight road games for the Vikings.
· With the win, the Vikings extended their current win streak to eight straight games.

THE GAME
After a strong first quarter, the Vikings kept the momentum on their side during the second frame, as Cleveland State outscored Central Michigan 21-6 during the quarter to take a 43-24 lead into the halftime break following an 8-0 run to close the half.

Despite Central Michigan opening the third quarter with back-to-back baskets, the Vikings responded with a Brittni Moore three-pointer and an Amele Ngwafang layup, regaining a 20-point advantage for Cleveland State at 48-28 less than two minutes into the frame.

The Vikings were then able to hold their sizeable lead throughout the rest of the frame, taking a 68-39 lead into the final 10 minutes of action following a Destiny Leo layup.

Ngwafang opened the final quarter of play with a layup less than 30-seconds into the frame to give Cleveland State a 70-42 lead then, as the Vikings were once again able to control play from the start of the quarter until the end, outscoring the Chippewas 18-13 during the final 10 minutes of play to come away with the 86-55 victory.
