Smith & Leo Named To #HLWBB All-Tournament Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading Cleveland State to the Horizon League Championship for the first time since 2010, the women's basketball duo of Gabriella Smith and Destiny Leo was named to the 2022 #HLWBB All-Tournament Team.

Smith and Leo are just the ninth and 10th Vikings to earn All-Tournament recognition, and the second and third to do so during Chris Kielsmeier's tenure.

This duo led the fourth-seeded Vikings to a 59-51 quarterfinal victory over No. 5 Northern Kentucky and a 69-42 semifinal win over No. 3 Green Bay, before coming up just short in the championship contest against top-seeded IUPUI.

Through three tournament games, Leo averaged 12.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, while playing 107 of a possible 120 minutes.

Leo notched double-digit points in two of the three games, including 18 points against NKU in the quarterfinals, marking her 20th 15+ point game of the season.

In tournament play, Smith averaged 12.0 points, 3.3 steals, 2.6 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per game, shooting 50-percent from the floor through all three games.

Smith finished with 10+ points in all three tournament games, including 14 points against IUPUI in the championship game while shooting 62-percent from the field (5-for-8).
