The Game
Cleveland State was able to go into the halftime break with a slim one-point lead at 33-32, after a Barbara Zieniewska three-pointer as time was expiring in the second quarter put the lead back in the Vikings favor for the first time since early on in the frame.

Northern Kentucky was then able to open the third quarter on a 7-0 run, gaining a 40-33 lead, before a Deja Williams three-pointer at the 6:06 mark brought the Vikings back within four points at 40-36.

The two teams then traded baskets over the next few plays, until the Viking defense was able to force NKU into a shot clock violation, turning this miscue into a Zieniewska offensive rebound and put-back on the ensuing possession, that closed the gap to just two points at 44-42 with 2:14 left in the quarter.

After another strong defensive possession, the Vikings were able to tie the contest on a pair of Amele Ngwafang free throws, before a Williams and-one play to end the third quarter put the Vikings back on top at 47-46 heading into the final 10 minutes of action.

Despite a slow start to the fourth quarter, the Vikings were able to post a 6-2 run over the opening minutes of the frame to extend their lead to 53-48 on a Ngwafang layup, before the two teams traded baskets to put the score at 57-52 CSU following an Isabelle Gradwell layup at the 2:40 mark.

NKU responded with four straight points to close the gap to just one point at 57-56, but that would be as close as they would get, as Zieniewska converted a pair of free throws in the final seconds to clinch the 59-56 victory.
