Women’s Basketball Returns Home To Host Eastern Illinois

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Following their first roadtrip of the 2017-18 season last weekend, the Cleveland State women's basketball team will return home for a brief stint Tuesday evening (November 28), hosting Eastern Illinois in a 7:00 p.m. contest. The Vikings enter Tuesday's matchup with a 3-2 record on the year, while EIU stands at 1-4.

Admission for Tuesday's matchup against Eastern Illinois is free for all in attendance.

Last time out the Vikings split their games at the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout in Las Vegas, Nevada, picking up a 54-45 victory over Louisiana and dropping an 80-64 contest against Saint Louis. The South Point Thanksgiving Shootout marked the first roadtrip of the season for the Vikings, as they opened the 2017-18 campaign with a three-game homestand.

Redshirt senior Khayla Livingston was named to the All-Tournament Team last weekend, after averaging 18.0 points and 4.5 assists while playing 35.5 minutes per game. Livingston notched back-to-back 18-point performances against Saint Louis and Lousiana, and shot 12-for-20 from the floor (.600).

With her 18 points against Saint Louis, Livingston became the 28th Viking all-time to record 1,000 career points, and finished the roadtrip with 1,021 total points. Livingston, who is averaging 15.2 points per game so far this season, has notched double-digit performances in four of the first five games.

Redshirt junior Ashanti Abshaw also had a successful weekend at the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout, combining for 35 points and five rebounds in the two games. Entering Tuesday's contest against Eastern Illinois, Abshaw ranks 16th in the CSU Career Record Book with 1,160 total points and ranks 20th with 527 total rebounds. She is now one of 13 Vikings to rank in the top-20 in both categories.

Shadae Bosley added to her career blocked shot total over the weekend, posting two blocks against Saint Louis in the tournament opener. Bosley, who has 95 career blocks, currently ranks second in the Horizon League averaging 1.6 blocks per game.

Eastern Illinois (1-4) enters Tuesday's contest on a two-game losing skid, dropping a pair of contests to Saint Joseph's (80-62) and Delaware (66-37) last weekend at the Saint Joseph's Thanksgiving Tournament. 

This will mark just the sixth meeting between Cleveland State and Eastern Illinois, with the Vikings owning a 4-1 advantage in the overall series. The two teams met last season in Charleston, Illinois, with Cleveland State picking up a 66-56 victory.
