Vikings Fall At Bucknell, 77-66

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Cleveland State women's basketball team continued the 2016-17 season Sunday afternoon, falling at Bucknell by a score of 77-66. The Vikings now stand at 4-6 on the season.

Game Stats
· Ashanti Abshaw led the Viking offense with 28 points, while Jade Ely added 11 points.
· Olivia Voskuhl recorded a team-high five rebounds, while Ashanti Abshaw, Nicolete Newman, and Jade Ely all grabbed four boards.
· Jade Ely posted a team-best five assists, while Mariah Miller handed out three helpers.
· Alexis Eckles recorded a pair of blocked shots, while Sierra Davidson, Shadae Bosley, and Oliva Voskuhl each added one block.
· As a team, the Vikings shot 43-percent from the field, including a .524 clip from three-point.

Game Notes
· The Vikings used their third starting lineup of the season at Bucknell, with Nicolete Newman, Ashanti Abshaw, Sierra Davidson, Shadae Bosley, and Mariah Miller on the court for the starting tip.
· Ashanti Abshaw recorded her fifth straight 18+ point game and her fifth 20-point game of the season.
· Following her 28-point performance, Ashanti Abshaw eclipsed the 700-point mark for her career, ending the contest with 706 career points.
· Jade Ely notched a season-high with her 11-point effort at Bucknell, which included a perfect 4-for-4 effort from the free throw line.
· With her two blocked shots on Sunday, Alexis Eckles has 56 for her career, and is just one block shy of earning a spot in the CSU Career Record book top-10.
· Cleveland State's .436 clip from the field marked the fourth time this season that the Vikings shot 40-percent or better from the floor.
· The Vikings marked a season-high with their .524 clip from behind-the-arc, and recorded double-digit three-pointers for the second time this year.

The Game
After going into the halftime break trailing 43-35, Cleveland State was able to knock down back-to-back shots – a jumper from Mariah Miller and a three-pointer from Ashanti Abshaw – to close the gap to 43-40 less than two minutes into the third quarter. Bucknell responded with five straight points of their own though, putting the score at 48-40 midway through the third frame.

The Bison then went on to outscore the Vikings 8-3 over the final 3:48 of the third quarter, heading into the final 10 minutes of action with a 56-46 advantage.

The two teams traded baskets during the opening minutes of the final quarter, but an 11-0 run from Bucknell over the next 3:20 extended the Bison lead to 71-51 with just under three minutes left in the contest. Although the Vikings were able to go on a 15-6 run over the final 2:23, it wouldn't be enough, as the Bison were able to come away with the 77-66 victory.

All nine of Olivia Voskuhl's points came during the final 2:28 of the contest, as she was a perfect 3-for-3 from behind-the-arc over the final minutes of the fourth quarter – scoring nine of Cleveland State's 15 points during the final run.
