CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State sophomore Ben Willeford was named the Eastern Wrestling League's 'Wrestler of the Week' for the week ending Dec. 18 after his performance at the CSU Open.

Willeford won four consecutive bouts to win his 125 pound weight class on Sunday (Dec. 18).

He earned a 2-1 decision in his first match before a 9-3 decision in the quarterfinal round.

Willeford pinned his semifinal opponent - his second win via fall on the season - in 51 seconds and then knocked off Eastern Michigan's Vincent Pizzuto by a 12-6 count.

With the four wins earned on Sunday, Willeford improved his overall season mark to 8-6.

The Vikings will be back in action on Wednesday (Dec. 21) when they participate in the Northern Illinois Quad in DeKalb, Ill. CSU battled Cumberland (Tenn.) at 12:00 p.m., No. 21 Kent State at 2:00 p.m. and finished with the host Huskies at 4:00 p.m.
