Cleveland, Ohio - The Cleveland State wrestling team dropped its last dual meet of the 2009 calendar year when the Vikings fell to the Northwestern Wildcats, 42-6. Mike Mencini and Rob Michaels were the lone Vikings to post victories in tonight's match up.

"Tonight was definitely not our best wrestling and in the end we paid for it," head coach Ben Stehura said. "Mencini and Michaels both had good matches for us, and hopefully they will be able to continue that into the Midlands in a couple weeks. We need to stay focused in practice and look ahead to what is next for us and not worry about what happened tonight."

The first CSU win came in the fourth match of the night when Mencini won a 7-1 decision over Robert Joyce in the 141 pound weight class. Northwestern had recorded 18 points by the time Mencini put the Vikings on the board, putting the score at 18-3.

Michaels recorded his 51st career victory tonight when he beat Robert Kellogg in a 12-5 decision in the 165 pound weight class, putting the score at 30-6.

The Wildcats would close out the meet on a 15-0 run, putting the final score of the meet at 42-6.

CSU will return to action when they travel to Evanston, Ill. for the Midlands Invitational on Tuesday, December 29 and Wednesday, December 30.
