Cleveland, Ohio - A young Cleveland State wrestling squad got plenty of practice today at the CSU Open held in Woodling Gym with over 250 wrestlers taking part in the action. Ronald Butler, Jeff Schuller, Ricky Williams and Gahad Suleiman competed for the Vikings.

"We were able to wrestle some of our younger guys today and get them some time on the mats that allowed them to gain competition experience," head coach Ben Stehura said. "For the most part I think we wrestled competitively, we just couldn't pull out the wins. Now we will see how we come out on Thursday against Northwestern after having a few days of practice before then."

Butler competed in the 125 pound weight class, dropping a 0-6 decision and a 2-10 major decision against Mercyhurst and Duquesne.

Schuller was pinned in 4:17 against Buffalo and dropped a 0-9 major decision to Central Michigan in the 197 weight class. Suleiman also wrestled in the 197 weight class, dropping matches against Notre Dame College and Ohio.

Williams competed as the heavyweight for the Vikings, dropping decisions against Ohio University and an unattached wrestler.

The Vikings return to action on Thursday (Dec. 17) when they host Northwestern in the final dual of 2009. Action begins at 7:00 p.m. in Woodling Gym.
