Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Corey Carlo provided the lone win of the night for the Vikings in a tough 38-3 loss in the Fitzgerald Field House Wednesday (1/24) night. Once again the score was a not a good indicator of the action turned in by the Viking wrestlers tonight, as three wrestlers lost by two points.

With the loss, the Vikings fell to 4-9 overall and 0-2 in EWL action.

Corey Carlo scored the Vikings first win of the night, with an electrifying overtime win over Alex Munoz.

After trailing for six minutes, Carlo shot in and scored a two-point takedown with just over 20 seconds remaining in the match, giving him a 4-3 lead, however Munoz controlled riding time and forced overtime.

In the second straight over time contest, Carlo wasted no time shooting in and scoring a match winning two-point takedown, securing his 12th win of the season.

The final match of the evening was a heavyweight showdown between 18th ranked Rashard Goff and sixth ranked Zach Sheaffer.

The two heavyweights fought hard for position throughout the match. Entering the third period, Sheaffer had a slim 1-0 advantage, and was able to ride out the entire period on his way to a narrow 2-0 win.

In a low scoring match at 149 pounds, Antonio Nicholson found himself down by one point entering the third period against Mark Powell. Starting the third period in the bottom position, Nicholson battled to escape with just over one minute left to even the score at one and force overtime.

Nicholson continued to battle hard throughout the course of overtime, but Powell recorded a slim 3-1 decision.

Jordan Keller also provided some third period excitement in a gut wrenching 4-3 loss. After two scoreless periods, the two combined for seven points in which Keller was able to score on an escape and takedown in the final frame but ran out of time in his comeback bid.

The Vikings return to action on Saturday, January 31st when they host EWL foe Bloomsburg. Action is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Woodling Gymnasium.
