Bloomington, Ind. - Despite hard work and effort the Cleveland State wrestling team dropped two matches at the Indiana Duals today. The Vikings fell to American in the first dual, 37-10 and dropped a 44-4 decision to Indiana in the final round of action.

"Although we didn't have the results we wanted today, I think everyone put out their best effort against some great competition," head coach Ben Stehura said. "I'm looking forward to starting EWL action this week, and hopefully we will all take some things from these meets and improve before Thursday."

Rob Michaels, Marcus Effner and Jeff Schuller led the way against American each recording victories for CSU. Michaels was the first to put points on the board with a 15-2 major decision over Tanner Shaffer in the 165 pound weight class.

Effner had a close match in the 174 pound weight class, ending out on top in an 8-4 decision over Phillip Barreiro, while Schuller recorded the last victory of the meet in the 197 weight class. Schuller recorded a 7-5 decision over American's Kenneth Clessas.

Mike Mencini was the lone Viking to be victorious against Indiana, recording a 15-4 major decision over the Hoosier, Max Ortega in the 141 pound weight class.

The Vikings begin Eastern Wrestling League action this week when they host the Pittsburgh Panthers on Thursday (Jan. 21) beginning at 7:00 p.m.
