Scouting David Armstrong

Armstrong is quick and combines great balance with the uncanny ability to come out of a scramble on top almost every time. He is fundamentally sound and lives and breathes wrestling.

2007-07 - Junior Season

Won 15 matches but fell short in bid to return to the national meet after 4th place finish at EWL Championship...Went 3-1 at CSU Open to place second in tournament (12/16)...Went 3-0 at Purdue Duals against wrestlers from Appalachian State, Eastern Illinois, and Purdue (1/6)...Went 3-0 at Ashland Duals (1/21).

2005-06 - Sophomore Season

Won a team-high two matches at NCAA Championships, defeating North Carolina's Jared Royer, 14-7, and Eastern Michigan's Phillip Plowman, 7-6...finished third at Eastern Wrestling League Championship and clinched NCAA berth with fall over Seth Lisa of West Virginia...posted 20-14 record, including three wins by major decision and one by pin...won five of six matches and placed third at the Slippery Rock Open (11/5).

2004-05 - Freshman Season

Went 10-24 in his first season, wrestling at both 133 and 141 pounds...went 3-2 at the Slippery Rock Open, finishing fourth...registered a 15-0 tech fall over John Rooney of Slippery Rock at the Kent State Open...earned a 17-5 major decision over Mike Pierce of Kent State in his first dual meet start.

High School

Two-time state qualifier at Collinwood...placed fifth in the state as a junior, and qualified his senior year by winning the district...district qualifier as a freshman and sophomore.
