Cleveland State Wrestling Edges Clarion 18-14 for First MAC Victory

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (1-4, 1-1) picked up their first dual victory and MAC win of the season on Thursday evening after edging out Clarion, 18-14 inside Woodling Gymnasium.

Clarion opened the dual with a 5-2 decision at 125 pounds to take a 3-0 advantage.

Cleveland State answered back with four straight decisions to claim a 12-3 lead. The victories came from Jake Manley, Caleb Rea, Douglas Terry, and Marcus Robinson.

The Golden Eagles then mounted a comeback that started with a 3-1 four-overtime thriller at 165 pounds to trail 12-6. A 19-2 technical fall in favor of the visitors at 174 pounds made it a one-point match, 12-11. No. 19/27 Will Feldkamp put Clarion back ahead, 14-12, with a 3-1 decision at 184 pounds.

Anthony Perrine pulled out a 7-4 victory at 197 pounds to give the Green and White a 15-14 lead with one match to go. Daniel Bucknavich then sealed the victory for the Vikings with a 6-0 shutout at 285 pounds as Cleveland State won the match, 18-14.
