CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State University wrestling team will close the fall semester by hosting the 14th annual Cleveland State Open this Saturday, Dec. 15.

The first matches will begin at 9:00 a.m. inside CSU's Woodling Gymnasium, and the event will be wrestled to sixth place. Live results and live video ($) will be available through TrackWrestling and can be accessed by clicking here. Tickets to the event will be $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and can be purchased by clicking here.

Student-athletes representing over 30 schools are scheduled to compete, including more than 20 Division I institutions. Seven programs ranked among the top 25 in Intermat's most recent Tournament rankings are scheduled to have athletes competing Saturday. Edinboro, Kent State and Maryland are expected to send their teams to the event in addition to the host Vikings.

Redshirt sophomores Colton Carroll and Ryan Ford both picked up two pins each at the Cleveland State Open last year, collecting their first pins in CSU singlets. Senior Evan Cheek and junior Collin Kelly both placed at the 2016 event, with Kelly tallying his first collegiate wins in the process.

Cleveland State picked up a pair of dual wins last weekend but is no stranger to a tournament format. This weekend's open will be the fourth bracket-style event of the season for the Vikings. Six Vikings placed at the Cougar Clash two weeks ago while a trio of Vikings—redshirt senior Armando Torres (133), redshirt sophomore Nico O'Dor (157) and senior John Vaughn (165)—have all placed in multiple events this season.

Torres leads the Vikings with 14 wins this season, including eight of the bonus-point variety. O'Dor follows with 12 wins and Vaughn has 11 while redshirt freshman Brady Barnett (149) has also reached double digits on the season.
