LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Cleveland State University wrestling team went 1-2 as it competed in a dual format for the first time this season Sunday inside Bucknell's Davis Gym.

The Vikings' 35-8 win over VMI to close the day represented the first victory for Josh Moore as a collegiate head coach.

CSU had dropped its opening matchups to Buffalo (6-34) and the host Bison (10-25). Six CSU student-athletes competed in their first dual as a Viking Sunday. Cleveland State had two true freshmen and two redshirt freshmen in its lineup.

Redshirt freshman Brady Barnett carried over his momentum from the opening weekend of the season nicely as he won all three of his bouts Sunday at 149 pounds. He won two matches with bonus points, including one by fall, and is now 8-2 on the young season.

Redshirt senior Armando Torres (133), senior John Vaughn (165) and junior Collin Kelly (285) all won multiple matches Sunday.

Barnett and Vaughn won matchups for CSU against the Bulls with the former claiming a 4-3 win and the latter earning a 9-3 decision. The Vikings lost a couple of very tight matches at the upper weights to Buffalo as junior Chris Morrow dropped a two-point decision at 184 while true freshman Ben Smith lost by a single point at 197.

After dropping his first match of the season against Buffalo, Torres, who won the Clarion Open last weekend, got back to his winning ways. He claimed a 5-0 victory against the host Bison to get back on track. Barnett won via a 10-1 major decision against Bucknell while Kelly claimed his first win of the season in a 5-4 victory. Cleveland State lost three bouts against the Bison by two points or fewer.

Cleveland State put together a complete team effort in their final dual of the day. Eight Vikings won their bouts, including five with bonus points.

Redshirt sophomore Cameron Lathem picked up his third bonus-point win in the opening two weeks of the season with a major decision at 125 pounds. Torres again won with a shutout decision while Barnett again won with bonus points, although this time he collected a pin in the opening minute.

Redshirt sophomore Nico O'Dor notched his fifth win of the season with a major decision at 157 pounds while Vaughn pinned his opponent in the opening minute.

After a couple of tight losses against his first two foes Sunday, Morrow turned the tables and won a decision against the Keydets. Smith then won his first bout in dual format with a victory by decision. Kelly joined Barnett and Vaughn by pinning his VMI opponent inside the opening minute.

Cleveland State will take nearly a month off from dual competition as it returns to tournament formats starting next Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Navy Classic.
