CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State University wrestling team will unofficially kick off the 2017-18 season with a series of events this Sunday, Oct. 22.

The Viking program will begin Sunday by hosting a two-hour youth clinic beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Cleveland State will then host intrasquad ranking matches featuring nearly all of its roster that is medically cleared. Sixteen ranking matches will be contested in the 10 weight classes. The event is free and open to the public and will begin at 12:30 p.m. inside Woodling Gymnasium.

The CSU program will close the day with its annual Welcome Back event at 3:00 p.m. as it hosts a clambake and party on the rooftop of the Green House Tavern (2038 E. 4th St., Cleveland, OH  44115). Tickets are $25 with all proceeds benefitting Cleveland State wrestling.

Former Viking standouts and EWL champions Riley Shaw and Ben Willeford will serve as honorary coaches during CSU's intrasquad matches.
