Corba Named EWL Co-Wrestler of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Redshirt junior Nick Corba of the Cleveland State University wrestling team was named Eastern Wrestling League Co-Wrestler of the Week Tuesday.

It is the first such honor of the season for Corba.

Corba won twice this past weekend as the Vikings closed the regular season by hosting a tri-dual with Gardner-Webb and Northern Illinois.

Corba began his day with one of his bigger wins of the season, as he beat Hunter Gamble of GWU. Gamble has been ranked among the top 20 at 184 pounds by multiple outlets. Corba used a first-period takedown to take a 2-1 lead after three minutes. After an escape by Gamble tied the bout after two periods, Corba secured an escape of his own in the third period and would go on to claim a 5-2 decision.

Corba pitched a shutout in his second contest of the day against Northern Illinois, claiming a 4-0 win. He used an escape, a takedown and a point for riding time to earn his win.

With his wins, Corba improved to 21-7 on the season.

Corba and CSU will contest the EWL Championships Saturday, March 4.
