Weather Forces Change to Wrestling Schedule

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Inclement weather and poor travel conditions have forced the Cleveland State wrestling team to alter its schedule this weekend and the Vikings will now host Ohio at 4:30 p.m. in Woodling Gym on Sunday (Feb. 22).

CSU was slated to travel to Boiler Springs, N.C. for two duals on Sunday, squaring off with Ohio and at Gardner Webb. But weather issues did not allow the Vikings to make the trip.

Instead, Ohio will travel to CSU for a dual with the Vikings on Sunday afternoon.

The NCAA released the first 2015 RPI standings at each weight class.  Three Vikings appear in the first RPI list for their weight: Ben Willeford (#15 at 125), Alfredo Gray (#33 at 133), and Riley Shaw (#8 at 285).

In the second NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings, Ben Willeford ranked #17 at 125 and Riley Shaw ranked #17 at 285.

Riley Shaw finished EWL competition undefeated, while Ben Willeford and Latrell Davis each finished with only one loss.

Last week's final EWL match clinched an undefeated home record for the Vikings and 2nd place in the conference dual standings.  The last time both of those feats were accomplished was during the 2002-2003 season.

The 41-0 shutout of Bloomsburg was CSU's first ever home shutout in EWL competition and tied for the second largest margin of victory over an EWL opponent.

The match against Ohio will be CSU's final dual before traveling to Rider for the EWL Championship on March 7.
