Dye and McKinley Finish in Top Five at CSU Open

CLEVELAND, Ohio-  With 25 schools and over 200 wrestlers that competed in the CSU Open on Saturday at Woodling Gym, the Vikings had solid performances from Xavier Dye and Jared McKinley.

Dye (4-4) finished third in the 184 weight class, going 3-1 on the day.  He had two decision wins (13-7, 7-6) over his opponents and an impressive 18-2 tech fall victory to finish off a solid day on the mats.  With only wrestling in four bouts this year coming in, Dye competed in a big way and is continuing to get better week in and week out.   

McKinley (9-4) had a major decision win (10-1) and won by forfeit.  The major decision win was his first of the season.  He took fifth at the CSU Open in the 133 weight class.  Other key winners for Cleveland State were Matt Donohoe, who went 2-2 with two decision victories and LaTrell Davis who also went 2-2 with a major decision and a decision victory. 

The Vikings will be back in action on Thursday (Dec. 19), as the team will travel to Boone, N.C. CSU will face N.C. State and Appalachian State in a tri-meet.  Wrestling will begin at 3:00 p.m.
