CLEVELAND - Brad Groleski and Lindsay Sellers, both two-time state qualifiers in tennis, have signed a national letter of intent to enroll at Cleveland State and compete on the men's and women's tennis teams, respectively, head coach Brian Etzkin announced today.

Groleski, a native of Springboro, Ohio, qualified for the state tournament in singles in two of his three high school seasons. He finished his junior year last spring with a 26-3 record, and was named conference player of the year. As a freshman, he earned second-team all-state honors after advancing to the quarterfinals of the state championships and finishing the year with a 29-6 mark. In 2000, Groleski was ranked in the top 40 in the nation by the United States Tennis Association.

"Brad is an outstanding student and a very good athlete," Etzkin said. "He's a big guy with all the tools to be an exceptional college player. He has the ability to step into the top half of our lineup next fall, and eventually be a number one player at Cleveland State."

Sellers, from Lexington, Ohio, helped lead Lexington High School to a third-place finish in the state as a sophomore in 2001. As a senior, she reached the quarterfinals of the state tournament in doubles, compiling a 13-2 mark in dual matches. A four-time district qualifier, she was also named conference MVP as a junior in 2002.

"Lindsay is a great competitor, and I'm really excited to have her joining us next fall," Etzkin said. "She too is an excellent student, and she should be able to battle for a spot in the top half of our lineup. She's an all-around solid player, and though she's more experienced playing singles, she's shown her prowess as a doubles player as well."

The Vikings concluded play in the fall semester with a 1-3 women's record and a 1-2 men's mark. The men's team will resume play on Jan. 23 when it heads to Ohio State, while the women pick up their season on Feb. 1 against Toledo in Rocky River, Ohio.
