Fox Named Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State senior men's tennis standout Rob Fox has been named the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month by the Horizon League for the month of April.

Fox, a senior from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, helped the Vikings to their fourth straight Horizon League Men's Tennis Championship title and NCAA bid. He was awarded first team All-Horizon League honors and set a school record with 28 doubles wins with teammate John Haley. In the month of April he went 5-1 in singles and 6-1 in doubles play.

A marketing, management and labor relations major, Fox earned a 3.90 grade point average. He earned Cleveland State's Academic Excellance Award for the third-consecutive year and was nominated for the Capital One Academic All-American honors through CoSIDA, earning second team All-District honors.

He also won the Herb Foster sportsmanship Award which recognizes student-athletes who display admirable conduct both on and off the court.

Youngstown State's Alisha Anthony earned the award on the Female side.

The Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month recognizes outstanding academic and athletic achievements. To be eligible for the honor, the student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better (on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, passed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours and perform well during the month's competition. Winners are selected by the League's faculty athletics representatives, from nominations provided by sports information directors.
