CLEVELAND - Cleveland State picked up two wins in singles matches, but fell, 5-2, at the hands of UIC on Saturday afternoon at the Malaga Tennis Center. The Vikings fall below the .500 mark at 9-10 and 1-2 in the Horizon League, while UIC moves to 6-11 overall and 2-1 in league play.

"We played better today than we did in the loss to Butler, and I think we're closing the gap between us and the top teams in the league," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "The guys all fought hard, and we had our chances. Losing in doubles cost us, and we didn't close out in the very close sets."

Jay Tee and Paul Haley picked up the two wins for the Vikings in singles play. Tee defeated John Cincola at No. 2 singles, 7-6(5), 6-4, while Haley defeated Pat Zufan at No. 5 singles, 1-6, 7-6(2), 6-4.

Tee also combined with Eric Winn to score an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, as the pair defeated Cincola and Zufan, 8-5.

The Vikings will close out their home season next weekend with a match on Saturday (April 17) against Youngstown State at 11 a.m. and a match the following day against Walsh at 1:30 p.m. Both matches will be held at the Malaga Tennis Center.
