Men's Tennis Drops to Toledo, 5-2

March 26, 2006

Toledo, OH-The Cleveland State men's tennis team fell to Toledo, 5-2, Sunday afternoon despite wins at the top and bottom of the lineup. The Vikings fell to 7-10 on the season.

Sagging energy proved costly for CSU as the Vikings lost 8-3, 8-3, and 8-6 at No. 1, 2 and 3 doubles.

"We didn't come out with enough energy in doubles today and lost the doubles point," said coach Brian Etzkin. "The point really would have given us some extra energy going into singles."

Olivier Dhaine lead the way at No.1 singles, downing Mohammed Al Nabhani 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 and improving to 10-3 for the year. At the bottom of the lineup No. 6 Steven Wipprecht defeated Brian Rager 6-3, 7-5. Wipprecth is 14-10 on the season.

"We had some very close matches in singles but did not pull them out," said Etzkin. Congratulations to Olivier who didn't play well from the start but found a way to get back in it. He never stopped thinking on the court."

The Vikings return to action Apr. 1-2 when they travel to Wright State and Butler.
