Men's Tennis Splits Two Close Matches to Close Spring Training Trip

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Cleveland State men's tennis team split a pair of matches to conclude its spring training trip late last week. The Vikings dropped a 4-3 decision at Louisiana Lafayette on Wednesday and rallied for a 4-3 win at Lamar on Friday.

The Vikings are now 7-7 this spring.

"Overall, I thought this was a productive spring training trip for us," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We were able to get some quality matches in against good teams and it was a good way for us to get prepared for the league season.

"We had a lot of energy in our matches and our doubles teams are really starting to feed off each other. That's key because there will be some matches in the coming weeks that will come down to the doubles point."

CSU will be back in action on March 26 when the Vikings continue Horizon League play with a 4:00 p.m. match at Green Bay.
